I’ve had a couple of ideas for posts percolating, but nothing particularly compelling or developed, so I thought I’d just relate some recent observations and anecdotes related to covid and vaccines in my corner of Canada.
A couple of weeks ago, my husband had an incident of transitory blindness in one eye. I made him an ophthalmologist appointment for the next day, at which they found nothing.
That was a Tuesday; the following Saturday night, it happened again. This time I was with him. He could see nothing out of his right eye, except some light.
A quick web search revealed that this was a potential emergency, so I drove him to the nearest hospital. At reception, we were ordered by a young nurse to wear masks. I refused, so had to leave. I can assure you that I truly felt like a terrible spouse for abandoning my husband in the emergency room.
He spent the night there and had various tests and scans, including an MRI, which revealed nothing. He later told me they’d found unusually high blood pressure, but did nothing about it.
He was given a followup appointment with a neurologist a few days later. If you know anything about getting a specialist appointment in Canada, you will know this means that it was considered urgent.
The neurologist also found nothing on an eye exam, but measured his blood pressure at a whopping 196 over 112. 180 is considered an emergency, can cause organ damage, and is potentially fatal at any moment. The neurologist told him he could not drive home, ordered him to the emergency room, personally accompanied him, and told the emerg doctor to see him right away. He was given medication intravenously to lower his blood pressure until it was at a level considered safe to allow him to go, and a prescription for daily blood pressure medication.
This apparently explains the transitory blindness, as well as, in retrospect, the nosebleeds he began to get after the “vaccine”. I unfortunately was unable to dissuade him from getting one shot of Moderna in July 2021. The episode of thrombotic thrombocytopenia, in which that very night after receiving the shot he bled copiously from his throat along with several large clots, did dissuade him from taking any more. But apparently, the damage was done.
We have requested medical records from his previous family doctor, who saw him in 2020, to try to confirm the vaccine hypothesis. Hopefully blood pressure measurements will be included, but he was never told he had hypertension nor offered treatment for it.
A lady at church is also experiencing unusually high blood pressure which fluctuates unpredictably and is not responding to medication. She had to get the shot in order to come to Canada.
In the last few weeks, also in my small church community, I have learned of two young people with myocarditis: one a young mother I wrote about previously, the other a very young (20 or 21 years old) father and husband. The latter only told me his story because I told him what was happening with my husband and my suspicion it was the vaccine. He claims he used to be able to run and play soccer for hours without breaking a sweat, but now can’t even swim a short distance without getting out of breath. He has to frequently take breaks at work (construction) and can’t carry heavy items. He is bitterly angry with his former employer who forced him to get the shot under threat of firing.
I recently heard him on a phone call with his wife as he was at work cleaning up the site in preparation to go home. His laboured panting for air as he talked to her told his story better than words.
I can’t help but think of the irony of one pharmaceutical product causing so much damage and illness, thus ensuring continued profits for pharma from the medications necessary to deal with them. Can anyone think they have any incentive to stop this cash cow?
In addition to cardiovascular injuries, a large percentage of people I know have been unusually sick with flus and stomach bugs. Of course it is normal to get sick during winter, but the frequency and severity seems abnormal.
While life has mostly gone back to “normal” here in Canada, the last bastions of covid hysteria are the hospitals and healthcare clinics. I have already related how the young hospital nurse ordered me to wear a mask or get out. The recorded phone message of a specialist eye clinic assures us that “the safety and wellbeing of our employees and patients is our highest priority”, which means that no one can accompany patients “unless medically necessary”, whatever that means, nor can they wait inside the clinic. That masks are required is a given. If you have cold symptoms, you must reschedule your appointment. It certainly does not give one much confidence in their competence or clinical judgement.
Finally, I got an email just last Friday from a company I do contract work for, informing us that they are “suspending” their vaccine mandate. It’s worth quoting from (bold emphasis is mine):
Subject: Suspension of COVID-19 vaccine requirement
Message: Hi everyone, Throughout the pandemic, [Company] has worked diligently to maintain a safe and supportive environment. We are writing to provide an update that will take effect beginning February 1, 2023. As has been the case over the course of the pandemic, [Company] has been informed by changing regulations, legislation, and direction from public health.
[Company] will be pausing the requirement for employees and volunteers to be fully vaccinated per [Company’s] COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, which came info effect in October 2021. This requirement may be reinstated on short notice should public health conditions or guidance change.
While physical distancing and masking will no longer be required, we ask everyone to respect the decisions of others regarding these measures, according to their comfort levels and health needs. It is vitally important that we remain vigilant, conscientious, and respectful of one another.
Thank you,
The People & Culture Team
So much to unpack here. First of all, note they are only “suspending” and “pausing” the mandate. They explicitly state they may reinstate it at any time based on changing “public health conditions” and “guidance”. What conditions would trigger the mandate again? We don’t know and they don’t say.
Secondly, they absolve themselves neatly of any responsibility for the mandate by blaming Public Health. They’re just following orders, you see.
Thirdly, they’re a bit late to the party. They instituted the requirement in October of 2021, although by that time it was already known that the “vaccines” did not stop transmission. I got an unintentionally hilarious email from them in winter 2021 stating that two employees who’d recently been on site had tested positive for covid but - the good news was, they were vaccinated! So they knew long ago these shots did nothing and only now, February 2023, are they “pausing” their mandate.
Fourthly, now we are asked to “respect the decisions of others regarding these measures”? Presumably that means respecting people who wish to remain irrationally terrified germaphobes, strap useless pieces of cloth or plastic to their faces, and make others stay six feet away from them. Why couldn’t we “respect the decisions of others regarding these measures, according to their comfort levels and health needs” all along? Apparently, only some decisions, comfort levels, and health needs are worthy of respect.
Finally, I cannot stop thinking about a former employee of this company, someone I became friends with when I worked on site. After the vaccine mandate was imposed, in early December 2021, he died “unexpectedly”, according to his obituary. I will forever be haunted by the idea that the shot his employers made him take in order to keep his job may have killed him.
I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's blood pressure and I hope he is feeling better. I agree with you re: the difficulty in trusting a medical system that insists on demanding masks contrary to evidence and also with the very tone-deaf notices from companies, institiutions, and every aspect of daily living. It seems like all "decisions, comfort levels, and health needs" are equal, but some are 'more equal than others'.
Sounds like australia is on a very similar page to Canada. It’s trying to go away but some people still clinging to it. Now we need the USA to stop their vax requirement for travellers which is one of the most ridiculous things I can’t believe it still exists.
