In an increasingly evil world, those who wish to confront evil and fight for the good must be prepared for opposition and hatred.
We cannot be deceived about the nature of the battle we are in. Tucker Carlson, whatever you think of him, was right when he stated in his recent address to the Heritage Foundation that what we’re facing isn’t simply a disagreement about politics and the best way to achieve goals we all agree on; it’s a battle between good and evil.
The nature of evil is that it hates goodness and truth. People who have made themselves evil’s servants hate those who have chosen to serve the good. This is simply the reality. No matter how winsome and persuasive you are, if you speak truth that exposes evil and lies, the adherents of those lies will attack you.
To those of us who are disciples of Jesus, this should not be a surprise. As Truth incarnate, he warned those who would follow him that they would face the same hatred he did.
[Y]ou will be hated by all for my name's sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved….A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household. (Matthew 10:22, 24-25)
Even if you don’t consider yourself a believer, by choosing to stand for truth and goodness, you are aligning yourself with the Light in some fashion and will be hated by the darkness.
We have to be prepared for this, and count it as the cost of standing for truth.
Anyone who is easily dissuaded by opposition, and would prefer to keep silent to preserve their peace, cannot be a warrior for the good.
We have all seen numerous stories of celebrities who dared to speak out against the current zeitgeist and then recanted due to the shame and ridicule heaped on them. Their fame, money, and social standing were worth more to them than integrity and truth, and they will keep them at the cost of their soul.
Know this: if you take unpopular stands for truth, you will be hated. You will be attacked. You may lose your job or your friends or even your family.
Know this, too: if this happens, this does not mean you have done something wrong. It means you had enough courage to speak the truth in a world that hates truth.
I don’t personally find that easy. I grew up in an extremely abusive home where to speak your mind, about anything, was to invite attack, ridicule, and punishment. As a result, I have a tendency to remain silent to avoid confrontation. I easily feel shame and guilt when someone gets angry at me, the reflex from confronting parental rage as a child making me feel that I have done something wrong.
But there’s no time or room for that. Evil wishes to silence truth, and we can’t allow it to silence us. We have to develop a thick skin and some compassion for the poor, deluded souls who have become victims and servants of lies. Don’t hate them, don’t attack back; respond with compassion or don’t respond at all; but don’t stop speaking truth and standing up for what’s good and right. Even if it’s 100% unpopular and you’re the only one you know who’s doing it.
In my life, God always confirms the little things I am doing. I am reading This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti. It is an old one and has been sitting around for a long time, unread. Your writing comes hand in hand with this book today and I get the message that we had better pick a side and hold on tight. God abhors fence sitters. Nicely said. I am also one who doesn't like out and out confrontation and it makes me feel as if I am in the wrong, even when I know I am right. By letting this 'feeling' get the better of me, I am no good to anyone. Time to stand up, not stand down...that is for sure. Thank you for this today!♥
Thanks for your post, esp the last paragraph. Sometimes no comment is the best I can do, but continue to spread good info. If it get rich, I will give globalresearch some money, they are so good.
